We’ve become familiar with the hallmarks of an Ollie Rathbone performance. Hard work, endeavour and a determination to have an impact on the game. They were all in evidence on Saturday against Birmingham City as he turned in a showing that has earned him the Mattress Online Man of the Match award.
The relentless Rathbone popped up all over the pitch as Steve Evans took charge of his first game in his second spell with the Millers at the weekend.
In an out of possession the skipper on the day led by example and seemed to pop up all over the pitch as he and his teammates battled to a point against a Blues side battling to stay in the division.
Rathbone’s performance was not the only one that seemed inspired by Evans’ triumphant return to the club, with the Millers turning in a workman-like performance across the board.
Hakeem Odoffin, Andy Rinomhota and Lee Peltier were also nominated in the four-man shortlist for the Man of the Match award with Rathbone claiming the prize as he landed 46.1% of the 1,159 votes cast following the final whistle.
