When Steve Evans reassumed control of the Millers, he stated in no uncertain terms that he was keen to steer this club back into towards what’s in it’s DNA, and Ollie Rathbone has appeared key to that transition.
The energetic midfielder has summed up what it means to be a Rotherham United footballer in the last few weeks, and has once again earned the proper recognition.
Despite a disappointing afternoon at Ashton Gate, Rathbone’s tireless running and relentless endeavour was enough for him to once again land the award.
Nominated alongside were Cohen Bramall and Andy Rinomhota, who looked to cause the Robins issues with their forward-thinking initiative. Bramall and Rinomhota earned 25.5% and 27.7% of the public votes respectively, but they couldn’t surmount Rathbone’s 46.9%.
